HTML5 indenting : I use UniversalIndentGUI with the XML Indenter. It allows at least to pretty print. Maybe they'd provide the tidy soon?

Les différents sentiments

Il était une fois, une île où tous les différents sentiments vivaient : le Bonheur, la Tristesse, le Savoir, ainsi que tous les autres, l'Amour y compris.

Un jour on annonça aux sentiments que l'île allait couler. Ils préparèrent donc tous leurs bateaux et partirent. Seul l'Amour resta. L'Amour voulait rester jusqu'au dernier moment.

Quand l'île fut sur le point de sombrer, l'Amour décida d'appeler à l'aide. La Richesse passait à côté de l'Amour dans un luxueux bateau. L'Amour lui dit :
- Richesse, peux-tu m'emmener ?
- Non car il y a beaucoup d'argent et d'or sur mon bateau. Je n'ai pas de place pour toi.

L'Amour décida alors de demander à l'Orgueil, qui passait aussi dans un magnifique vaisseau :
- Orgueil, aide moi je t'en prie !
- Je ne puis t'aider, Amour. Tu es tout mouillé et tu pourrais endommager mon bateau.

La Tristesse étant à côté, l'Amour lui demanda :
- Tristesse, laisse moi venir avec toi.
- Oh ! Amour, je suis tellement triste que j'ai besoin d'être seule !

Le Bonheur passa aussi à côté de l'Amour, mais il était si heureux qu'il n'entendit même pas l'Amour l'appeler !

Soudain, une voix dit :
- Viens Amour, je te prends avec moi.

C'était un vieillard qui avait parlé. L'Amour se sentit si reconnaissant et plein de joie qu'il en oublia de demander son nom au vieillard.

Lorsqu'ils arrivèrent sur la terre ferme, le vieillard s'en alla. L'Amour réalisa combien il lui devait et demanda au Savoir :
- Qui m'a aidé ?
- C'était le Temps, répondit le Savoir.
- Le Temps ? s'interrogea l'Amour. Mais pourquoi le Temps m'a-t-il aidé ?

Le Savoir sourit, plein de sagesse et répondit :
- C'est parce que seul le Temps est capable de comprendre combien l'Amour est important dans la vie.

2010 : 4545 km of Cycling

Last year I did 4545 km on my bike. About 12 Km a day, 87 a week.

There were 2600 km on my mountain bike, 1384 km on my road bike ("course") and 563 km on my "normal" bike

The greatest moments were

2 times climbing the Mont Ventoux in the same week
One week in the Luberon region in Provence
2 days in Bourgogne
Our prefered transport mean during our mobilhome trip and at the sea side
De Gordel
Last but not least, a lot of Mountain Bike with Eric around many circuits like Houffalize

How to protect ePub eBooks ?

Our new eBook "Android Une Fois" is now on amazon.com. It's ok, the only problem being that it's written in French and I'd like to better reach French speaking customers...

So I have been thinking about other distribution mechanisms.

One of them would be to send the ePub by email after someone has paid me (BE money transfer).

But than, once it is send, how to avoid that the mail gets forwarded everywhere ?

I have been investigating a bit ePub protection. It seems there are several scenarios

Plain DRM : find an eBookstore that provides plain DRM on ePub files (like Adobe DRM)
Watermark (visible and invisible) an image (the cover or all images) in the ePub with the email of the customer. Easy to remove.
Watermark the text (visible and invisible) with the email of the customer (also easy to remove)
Digitally sign a file within the ePub

Windows Tablets will fail. Are you sure ?

In response to this post on ZDNet: CES : Why Windows Tabkets Will Fail,

where the author James Kendrick seems to say that Microsoft has got it all wrong, I posted the following comment:

When there were rumors of a windows Tablet (the courier, if you remember) I thought that Microsoft could offer a strong alternative to the iPad. What we see here is the collision between two kind of systems: Desktop OS Vs Mobile OS.

As usual, Microsoft starts from far but in the end they finally get somewhere. Look at IE, at
Axapta (CRM), at Sharepoint...

What you should ask is not: “what is good to Microsoft ?”, but “what is good for the user ?”

My answer is: it depends.

It depends on the needs and the kind of applications that make that person productive. If all his productivity applications are based on "Windows Servers" or MS Office or Outlook, or any other WIN32 the windows tablet might be the best for this person.

Before deciding I suggest everyone to make an analysis on the 4 Tiers of what I call the eReading Reference Architecture : eReader (ePaper or Tablet), Desktop, Internet and

It's only when you look at the complete lifecycle of your digital contents that you can choose the right tablet for you.

In the case of ebooks, a Kindle is even nicer...
