Yesterday (Nov 10th, 2011), there was great news : the VEP RFPs have been issued ! The specifications were finished in March, so it was about time that the RFP gets out. Today we submitted, together with the Maurice Carême school in Wavre (Belgium), a project proposal in the context of "Ecoles Numérique" (Numeric Shool). The project we submitted is called "Lecture Numérique à l'Ecole: Test de tablettes" (Digital Reading at School : Tablet Test). Basically I proposed to prototype my reference architecture for School Ebooks : http://www.appepaper.com/erra/ereading-scenarios/school-ebooks Let's hope we can get the funding for the project. We will see...
 Tout fout le camp. J'ai l'impression qu'il y en a pas mal qui sont en train de revoir leurs niveaux de service pour faire face à la crise et conserver leur rentabilité. Du style "pot de Yaourt plus petits au même prix". Le meilleur exemple que j'ai pour l'instant est ING. Je viens de recevoir coup sur coup plusieurs changements inattendus et embêtants de leur part. Tout d'abord depuis plusieurs années j'étais content de ma VISA et de mon compte Flexis associé qui me permettait de rembourser mes frais VISA quand je le voulais. En un coup, la collaboration avec VISA s'est arrêtée et j'ai dû prendre une nouvelle... Mastercard avec de nouvelles conditions. Récement, un premier email nous annonce des changements importants sur les comptes en banque. Il y a toute une série de frais qui se rajoutent. Par exemple, si je vais maintenant retirer de l'argent dans un "self" KBC, je vais payer 50 cents. Un deuxième email, m'annonce que vu les "problèmes de sécurité sur Internet", les cartes de crédit ne permettront plus de faire des transactions de plus de 650€ par jour. Si l'ont veut plus, on doit prendre rendez-vous à l'agence ! Cela me cause directement un problème par rapport à un cas d'utilisation très important pour moi : acheter des voyages Last Minute sur Internet. Pour deux personnes, même un city-trip ca peux dépasser 650€. Autant payer avec Home-Bank alors... Je supprime ma Mastercard ? Je peux aussi rajoute que sur un compte Lion "Professionnel" on ne peux pas obtenir d'extraits de comptes ni au self Bank, ni via la poste... Ça fait de plus en plus de petites contrariétés et, ca n'arrive pas souvent, ça m'énerve. Je commence à me demander si devrais-je aller visiter une autre Banque ? I could organize the team when it was disorganized. I could tell the other players what to do. I could influence the team by putting the fastest in the attack and place the others in order to slow down the other team. I had a complete vision on the game: players, rules, tactics, tricks. The only things that I could improve was swimming (more training and less beers) and technique. Look at me scoring a goal on Youtube... After more than 7 years working on "Middelware" (Portals, ECM, SOA, BPM), I feel I "master" those topics. I know ho to setup a team, how to start, how to make all kind of specifications, scope and estimate the hardware, the software, the project. I know most of the solutions, the competition and the prices. I have a feeling on how much the solution is worth in function of the Business Value... In 2010 I started new activities in the field of "Digital Reading". I learned about eBooks, eBookStores, newsstands, digital magazines, epub, epaper, the kindle format, Library Systems, iPad Apps, Android... In 2011 I won my first projets and I feel like it's when I was a new Water-Polo player. I enjoy the game but I have not yet all elements in hands. I still need to meet important players, integrate some complex rules, play more matches... I believe it will take me 7 years to achieve my goal: become a WorldWide expert in the field of Digital Reading (eReading).  @francoisvermaut on pourrait aussi faire le theme weirdDomino...
