The last days of 2010 and the first days of 2011, I have been working on designing an architectural framework for the VeP (Vlaams e-Boek Platorm = Flemish eBook Platform).You can find the project home page here : http://www.innovatiefaanbesteden.be/project/e-boekThe VeP is an initiative of the Flemish book sector. There are several partners :BibNet : the network of Flemish librariesBoek.be : the association of Flemish book-sellers and book-editorsIWT (the government agency for Innovation by Science and Technology) Other stakeholders involved the Innovation Process : Editors, ICT suppliers, Libraries, Students...The architecture work follows a quiet unique "innovation momentum" that has been led by Verhaert (Dany Robberechts).My current role (ICT Consulting) is to help the book sector to articulate the IT requirements for the VeP project. To do so I combine my ICT knowledge (methods and techniques) and my knowledge of the eReading market.During the closing event of the innovation phase on Oct 27th 2010, a piece of my work was visible in the form of a big picture for the VeP (see picture below):Technically, it requires IT modeling and documenting. After modeling most of the modules and structuring the ideas into an Archimate model using BOUML, I'm now writing a text specification using MS Word and Powerpoint. That specification should be used to make an RFP for a Demonstrator in the coming weeks. I'm in fact applying the methodology that I have documented in my eBook : the eReading Reference Architecture. When the architecture is validated and used, I hope I have the time to go back to Archimate and build a strong reference model for the VeP that can be used as an Archimate use case.I'm very proud to be working on this project that tries to combine the valuable traditions of the book sector with the innovations of the eBook market.
