On the Business Quest blog, I watched the TEC presentation on our ability so synthetize happiness.

Here are some things I liked in this presentation.

When are we unhappy ?

• When we need to make a choice and our perception of the difference between the two permanent choices is too high : we than may feel unhappy with this choice - Happiness disappears if we overrate the difference between one permanent situation and another (Adam Smith)

• When we think too much : "There is nothing bad or wrong, thinking only makes it so" (Shakespeare)

• Whe we don't accept what we can't change Dogbert's attitude in post-sales when the customer is not happy that the product doesn't work is to show the advantages that he gets when the product doesn't work. When Dilbert asks what he's doing with this customer, he replies : "I'm helping people to accept things they can't change"
