Leary Model
This model allows to better understand interaction between people.
The two dimensions of the leary model are Dominance and Agreement level.
Dominance Level - Is a person in the group rather in
-
DOMINANCE or "Above" : he wants to define the contents (decides when to start the meeting, takes decisions, wants to speack)
-
SUBMISSION or "Under" : he allows others to define the context (listens to the others, don't mind to be interrupted)
Agreement level - Is a person in the group rather :
-
AGAINST : the person is rather against the content.
-
TOGETHER: the person agrees on the content (strenghten the team spirit, agrees to go in that direction)
By combining those categories you come to multiple possibilities:
Title | Combination | Pathology |
Leading | Dominance-Together | autocratic dictatorial |
Helping | Together-Dominance | protectionist, motherly behavior |
Co-operating | Together-Submission | overconventional |
Following | Submission-Together | dependant |
Retiring | Submission-Against | masochistic |
Critically Constructive | Against-Submission | Paranoia |
Demanding | Against-Dominance | Aggressive |
Manifesting | Dominance-Against | Narcisism |
