Today, the web is still a human communication media.
In the future, the web will be more and more used by machines (for example : web robots that look for the best prices on the market, fridges that help you to compose your virtual shopping basket at your preferred shopping mall,...).
XML is said to be the technology that will help machines to talk with each other on the web. However this is not enough.
For a machine, Information 1 and 2 are equivalent. While for you Information 2 is more relevant to your business.

This means that we need a technique to tell the machines that the
tag corresponds to a Person entity in their programs.
